Built in 1881, the Payne Mansion on 1409 Sutter Street is one of San Francisco’s most iconic Victorian-era buildings. This historical landmark features a grand ballroom, five separate event spaces, and a catering-quality kitchen.

Originally home to Theadore F. Payne and his family, the mansion has served as a restaurant, office building, and even a YMCA.  In 2006, it was purchased and renovated by the Simayof family, all while maintaining the building’s original grandeur — from the European stained glass windows to the intricate woodwork.

Today, the Payne Mansion is listed in the prestigious National Register of Historic Places and was recently featured in Martha Stewart Weddings. The mansion can host a variety of social and corporate events, from weddings and charity fundraisers to company off-sites and training seminars, including intimate gatherings for 20 to grand get-togethers for 250 guests.

Recently, Trendy Lime, along with Froomz, Finlandia, Solz, Plantronics and Little Black Dress, hosted a Halloween Odyssey at the venue.

Bedecked in ghoulish decor, the mansion served as a spook-tacular backdrop for the sold out Halloween party. With an international bevy of guests, the event celebrated the culmination of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising funds for a breast cancer survivor, the beautiful Tatiana.

The event was also presented by Yoshi’s, CookieGirlSF, EcoCopy, Envolve, VIPSocialite and the Ramp Restaurant. Media Partners include WeBlogTheWorld, DrinkEntrepreneurs, GEV Magazine, and Bub.Blicio.Us. View the full event album here.

Commonwealth Club of California, event venue in San Francisco, Inforum, Jon Bentley, Locavore, meeting space in San Francisco, Steve Forbes, The Commonwealth Club

As a member and fan of the Commonwealth Club of California — or the Club as we fondly call it — I’ve enjoyed meeting people at events on topics ranging from the collaborative consumption economy, history of venture capitalism to sex life in San Francisco.

I love the Club because it’s a forum open to all for the impartial discussion of public issues. Prominent speakers have included personalities like Teddy Roosevelt in 1911 to former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, author Christopher Hitchens in recent years, and Forbes Media Chairman Steve Forbes last week .

When asked about the most memorable event hosted by the Club’s INFORUM programming department, Jon Bentley, Event Manager at the Club, named “Locavore” without hesitation.

He adds, “Locavore was a showcase for local chefs, products, wineries, and distilleries, highlighting the plethora of amazing tastes and culinary experiences to be had right in our own back yard. One aspect of The Commonwealth Club’s mission is for our members to “Be in the Know”, and the Locavore event achieved that goal flawlessly: offering members an opportunity to connect with leaders of food and beverage industry, who are defining and redefining the San Francisco Bay Area culture, one of the greatest food destinations in the country!“

Conveniently located at the heart of the financial district in San Francisco, the Club is also open to private events when it is not hosting its own. Be it an intimate conference for 10 or a larger seminar for 250, the Club’s facility is the perfect place for your next event. Check it out some of their available packages here.
